Green Olive

Promoted by Casa do Azeite, in partnership with the Association for Technological Innovation and Quality (AEMITEQ), the Green Olive project arises from the need to develop a strategy to combat climate change in the olive oil sector in Portugal.
This partnership will result in a Roadmap for Carbon Neutrality (RNC), which will allow companies throughout the value chain to assess the impact of their activity on the environment and identify the improvements they can implement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Join us in promoting a more competitive and sustainable sector!
Green Olive is one of the initiatives funded by the EU's RRP in Portugal.

Activities

Carbon Neutrality Roadmap

Development of a Roadmap for Carbon Neutrality, identifying concrete actions and projects to be developed at the value chain level and to enable a more sustainable and competitive sector. This Roadmap will enable companies in the olive oil sector to learn about their carbon footprint and the main aspects to be taken into account when calculating it. The aim is to make it easier to assess the impact of the sector's activity on global warming and, consequently, to identify improvements that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Decarbonization Platform

It aims to act as a communication enabler for the Olive Oil Sector's RNC, with the purpose of exchanging opinions and best practices on the energy transition and decarbonization around the value chain. It will also provide diagnostic and self-assessment tools, enabling companies to analyze the areas of intervention with the greatest potential within the scope of the Roadmap.

By integrating the data on the carbon footprint of the entire olive oil sector, it will be possible to calculate the environmental impact of the various production scenarios (Life Cycle Analysis), giving companies access to information on action measures throughout the value chain. The Olive Oil Sector Decarbonization Digital Platform will also include a repository of good decarbonization practices.

Communication and Dissemination

- Creation of the project image;
- Development of promotional and information material;
- Webmarketing: management of social networks (Facebook and Instagram) and the promotion of the project in the press;
- Video to promote and raise awareness of the decarbonization of the olive oil sector in Portugal.

Conferences and Workshops

There will be workshops and a final conference on the use of by-products, in particular on:

- Climate change
- Circular Economy
- Technological innovations
- Medication and reducing the carbon footprint
- Funding and opportunities
- Strategies for the future of brands and sustainability

Training Plan

As far as training is concerned, the development of a training plan for companies is expected, focusing mainly on the Olive Oil Sector RNC produced as part of the project, but also on associated and relevant topics, such as:

- Sustainability in the Olive Oil Sector
- Measuring the Carbon Footprint
- Circular Economy and Resource Appreciation
- Green Marketing
- Roadmap for implementing the Decarbonization Roadmap
